Here are a few images from our most recent photo shoot last Friday. We shot for two hours and it was so hot out! The kids were troopers though...and just adorable! The weather forecast said that it was suppose to rain so the family was a little nervous that we were not going to be able to shoot outside. We got to the location and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. It turned out to be a beauiful day! That's typical Farmington weather though ;)

I am so terribly behind on my blogging...it's been 2 months! In my defense, however, I have been extremely busy. Then last week I was sick and fell behind on editing client photos. I'm just about caught up though and ready to take on more. One of the recent shoots that I just completed editing was for a high school senior. Senior portraits are my favorite because senior year is such an exciting time in a young adult's life...the ending of one chapter and the beginning of another; plus they're just fun. Cassandra was absolutely fabulous to shoot! I have been anxious to get these up and blog them. She is such a beautiful girl...looks like Kim Kardashian and knows just how to pose for the camera. Because there were so many I wanted to post and becasue blogger is SOOOO SLOW to upload...I have attached the link to my Featured Photo Shoot gallery. This is something new that I am doing and will be changing out from time to time. I did not place all of her photos in the gallery, as there were so many. Oh, I don't want to forget to thank Taverna for allowing us to shoot in their restaurant. Cassandra is planning to attend culinary school when she graduates and wanted some photos of her in her chef's coat in a kitchen/restaurant setting. Mini Photo Shoot

I'm so excited...we are heading to Phoenix in March and I am planning on having a day of mini photoshoots on the 27th. The shoots are going to be a "mini" version of my Creative Design Packages and are priced at $65. Each shoot will be for 30 minutes and the client will receive 10 original images & 10 creative designs on a CD with a personal printing release. Bites & Bids Charity Extravaganza

My husband, daughter, and I went to a charity auction for our local Humane Society last night. All the money raised goes to spay, neuter, and vaccinate shleter animals who have been adopted by loving families. A friend of mine, whose daughter sits on the board, called and asked if I would donate a package for the auction...of course I said yes. Here are a couple of pictures from my display; my package was part of the silent auction. They had so many items and even had tickets to the Taylor Swift concert in Denver. Her tickets went for over $2,000 (wow)! We had fun; I'm looking forward to participating again next year!

New Year's Day Wedding

I received a call two weeks before New Years asking if I was available to shoot a wedding on New Year's Day and it just so happened that I was. Erin & David shared their special day with a small group of family and friends; and what a wonderful group of people they were! Greg & I had a great time shooting their wedding and came up with some fun shots that they all enjoyed as well. Congratulations Erin & David to beginning your new lives together!

December Family Photoshoot

I am so far behind on my blogging...as you can see this photoshoot is from December. It wasn't too terribly cold outside for this time of year, but there was not much to the scenery as all the leaves are dead and gone from the trees. The photos came out great none the less and the kids had fun playing in the leaves that remained on the ground. I have to say...I am already wanting summer to get here!

Taffeta & Seth

I have been blessed to have Taffeta as my best friend for 20 plus years...we often refer to each other as sisters. She asked me to take photos of her and her brother so that she can make gifts for her family for Christmas. It had been so long since she and Seth had updated pictures for their mom and she doesn't have any recent pictures of them together. Seth is not a huge fan of having his picture taken but I was quick and don't think I caused him too much pain ;)

My good friend Pam contacted me to take some photographs of her with her Harley so that she could put together a magazine article featuring her, her father, and her grandfather. She has a very old photo of her grandfather standing by his Harley that she wants me to re-touch so that the details of the bike can be better seen. The photograph of her father features him on a Harley as well. I am sharing a sneak-peak of Pam's photos that I took on Saturday; I'm so glad we were able to shoot on that day. Today it snowed so much (weird for October) and I'm thinking that we wouldn't have had another good weather opportunity for a while. I'm excited to start working on the rest of this project.....more photos to be posted at a later date.

Albuquerque August 2009

Greg & I went to Albuquerque at the end of August for a concert. Our friends, Barry and Scott, had bought tickets and a hotel room for a wedding present for us and so we all went down. We had a great time at the concert (Def Leppard) one of my all-time favorite bands. Of course Greg & I had to take advantage of the trip and snap some photos while we were there.

I love cactus! I spotted these cactus as we were driving through a plaza after having breakfast at MiMi's with my friend Laura. They have incredible food! If you haven't eaten there I highly suggest it.

These cactus were beautiful (as you can see they had amazing colors) so we had to stop and take some pics. I would love to have some for my yard.

My husband & I are fans of and greatly appreciate the work that goes into architechture. We love to view the various types of buildings and structures in cities because architechure is an art in itself. We spent quite a bit of time in downtown Albuquerque taking pictures the day after the concert. The photograph below (creatively edited of course) was taken down on Central. I have many more photos that were taken but have not edited them yet. I will post more as I get to them.

Our goal is to collect city scapes from all over for our own personal gallery. It may take us a while.

Senior Portrait

I recently sent out postcards to market my new "Economy Friendly" senior portrait special. I wanted to have a package that is affordable for all seniors and their families because I think that this is a very important milestone in a young adult's life. This past weekend I had my first photoshoot for this special (I'm so excited!) The weather was perfect, the colors on the trees were breathtaking, and the pictures turned out fantastic! I did a photoshoot for a friend of mine last weekend for her grandmother's 90th birthday. What a wonderful family! Their home was amazing with so many great areas to use as backgrounds. Just a peaceful place with acres of beautiful property. I took various types of group and individual pictures; the most important being the 5 generation photo which was my friend, her mother, grandmother, son, and grandsons. The two little brothers looked identical and both were a mirror image of mom.

These are my two favorite pictures from the shoot. Grandma in her room....classic....and mother with her two daughter-in-laws.

O.K. so I'm a couple of weeks behind on my blogging. It has been crazy around my house with my daughter's schedule (I think it's busier than mine), work, life, etc. The summer zipped by before I knew it. I did get to have a great photoshoot before all the super warm weather disappeared a few of weeks ago with a couple who has the most adorable little boy!

My Favorite Month

September is an important month to me not just because my birthday is the 1st ;) but also because it is the birthday month of several individuals near and dear to me: my husband and my mother. My mother's birthday is also shared with a very devastating and tragic event that continues to affect our country years later, and I'm sure for many years to come. That date, of course, being September 11th.

I don't think that there is a person in the United States who doesn't remember where they were and what they were doing when the Twin Towers were hit. I was getting ready for work when my mother called me and told me to turn on the news; an airplane had just hit one of the twin towers. Of course from there came the others; I could not peel myself away from the television. Was I really seeing this? When I arrived at work, they too were all gathered around listening and watching, trying to understand who and why.

We live so far away, here in New Mexico, from where this terrorist attack took place but it felt like our own backyard. I was still in college in 2001 and learned that one of my classmates had lost a family member on 9/11. When you talk to someone who has actually lost a loved-one in an attack that occurred so many miles away, it brings into perspective that the world really is a little place and that we are all affected by one another. The attack occurred in one area of our great country violating us all and leaving us feeling as though someone had broken into our own home.

I apologize if I have put a damper on anyone's day by reading this portion of my blog. I felt it important to take the time to recognize and remember the many lives lost and affected in so many ways by the events that took place on this day in history. And I believe that it is important to never forget such events as this, because when we forget, history repeats itself.

On a happier note, September also houses Green Sticky Note Day (mine & my husband's special day), is the beginning of my favorite season, autumn, which I absolutely love for the perfect weather and for all the beautiful colors. The same colors that I plan to decorate our house in (but that's another project on my list of many ;) And finally, September marks the one year anniversary of the start of my business.

Last Sunday I did a family photoshoot for a good friend of mine. Her little girl is so cute; and what a ham she is! We shot in the morning so that it was not too hot out. The little one wasn't feeling too good, but she was still a trooper.

This is one of my favorite spots to take pictures at because of all the bright colors on the buildings. My friend chose this place for the very same reason. Interesting architecture is my favorite type of background for a photoshoot.

The photos that I used to put the collage together remind me of one's that the paparazzi take when you don't know that anyone is watching. Of course these ones aren't bad ;)

Las Vegas Vacation

I just got back from a week-long family vacation to Las Vegas. The weather was so incredibly hot there; but we had a great time. Our ventures took us from the strip to Fremont street and to many detours in between.

Our driving route took us to Lake Powell (my first time there) where we stopped and took some great pictures. The unique land formations in the middle of the lake were breathtaking. I would have loved to spend more time there, perhaps on a houseboat for the weekend, but we had another agenda for this trip.

We took one morning of our vacation to drive to Hoover Dam. The temperature was higher there than on the Vegas strip and was just too much for everyone so we took a few pictures and headed back. The dam was still under construction from the last time I visited which was in 2004. We were lucky to beat the traffic when we drove up to see it. The people coming when we were going, however, weren't so lucky and were in for a long wait.

The shopping in Las Vegas is phenomenal with all the exquisite stores: Dolce & Gabbana, GUCCI, Prada, Guess....places that we don't have access to here in Farmington. One of my favorite outings, besides seeing the Phantom of the Opera, was viewing photographer Peter Lik's art exhibit at the Venetian. He is a self-taught master photographer from Australia and has art galleries in Vegas, New York, Florida, Colorado and his home country, Australia. Mr. Lik truly is a talented individual and an amazing artist! I recommend visiting one of his galleries to see his masterpieces.

My dear friend Laura recently purchased a very upscale - contemporary townhouse (I'm so jealous!) and I wanted to create a unique photograph for her. Since she loves martinis and chose to accent her home with a very stylish shade of pink (her favorite color) I came up with this......

As soon as I walked into her home, I knew what it was that I wanted to create for her...something as fabulous and stylish as she is.

I gave her the meticulously framed and matted photograph at a get together last night...she loved it! It was a hit with everyone else there as well.

I will be creating another unique piece for my best friend who just moved into her new home. I have a feeling I will be doing many more...

Pagosa Springs

Here's a couple of pics from The Springs hotel & resort. There were quite a few people enjoying the water in the hot sun. The river that runs next to the springs was low enough that people were playing in it as well.

We took a family trip to Pagosa Springs over this past weekend. The weather was perfect and the scenery was absolutely beautiful! I was able to take some great pictures around the area of the townhouse we stayed in as well as the hot springs area. It's so nice to get away just so that you can sit around doing nothing but relax. My husband and I had a wonderful time walking around the area scouting out photo opportunities. I'd like to go back this winter so that I can photograph the same landscaping when it is covered in snow.
